Coron to El Nido: The 3-Day Island Adventure You Can’t Miss

If you’re planning a trip through Palawan, there’s one experience you absolutely shouldn’t skip: a 3-day island-hopping expedition from Coron to El Nido. Coron itself might not have tons to offer, but it’s the perfect launch point for one of the most epic adventures in the Philippines.

Where I Stayed in Coron

I only spent one night in Coron and stayed at My Guide Travellers Inn. It was super basic—I was actually the only person there—but it worked fine for a place to crash for the night. If you’re just looking for somewhere cheap and quiet, it does the job.

If I could go back, though, I’d book Hop Hostel instead. I met a few people who stayed there and said it was really nice—social, clean, and a better vibe overall. A good option if you want to meet other travelers before heading off on the boat trip.

Should You Spend Time in Coron Town?

To be honest, there’s not a ton going on in the town itself. You can find a few bars, restaurants, and tour agencies, but nothing that really stood out. I’d say one or two nights max is enough here—just long enough to get your bearings, grab a few supplies, and get ready for the real adventure.

The Coron to El Nido Expedition

This was the highlight of my time in the Philippines. I booked a 3-day, 2-night boat expedition with Sea Quest, and I can’t recommend it enough.

What’s the trip like?

  • The group vibe was amazing—you meet people from all over the world, and by the end of the trip, it feels like you’ve made a whole new travel crew.
  • You spend your days island hopping and snorkeling in some of the clearest, bluest water I’ve ever seen.
  • At night, you sleep in beach huts on remote islands—no Wi-Fi, no distractions, just stars and the sound of the ocean.
  • All your meals, water, and drinks (including rum!) are included in the price.

It’s simple, off-grid, and absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking for a bit of adventure, this is it.

Final Thoughts

Coron might not be the main attraction, but it’s the perfect jumping-off point for this epic expedition. Keep your time in town short and save your energy for the boat trip—you won’t regret it.

If you’re heading to Palawan, make this experience a priority. Some of the best memories of my trip were made out on those islands.
