If you’re heading to Krabi, staying in Ao Nang is a fantastic choice. With stunning beaches, fun nightlife, and easy access to island tours, it’s the perfect base for exploring this part of Thailand. Here’s everything you need to know for an unforgettable stay in Ao Nang.
Where to Stay: X Base Hostel
For backpackers and budget travelers, X Base Hostel in Ao Nang is hands down the best hostel in the area. I stayed here for four nights, and it was the perfect place to meet fellow travelers, relax by the beach, and enjoy Krabi’s nightlife. Here’s why it’s a great choice:

- Beachfront Location: The hostel is literally right on the beach, giving you incredible ocean views and easy access to the water.
- Spacious & Comfortable Rooms: The rooms are clean, spacious, and come with balconies—perfect for enjoying the sea breeze.
- Friendly Staff: The staff are incredibly welcoming and helpful, making you feel right at home.
- Social Atmosphere: Whether you’re traveling solo or with friends, the hostel makes it easy to meet people.
Must-Do Activities in Ao Nang
1. Island Tour (Book Through the Hostel!)
One of the best experiences I had was the island tour organized by X Base Hostel. It includes:

- A visit to Railay Beach, ranked as the 9th best beach in the world—the white sand and crystal-clear waters live up to the hype.
- Multiple snorkeling spots where you can swim with colorful fish and explore stunning coral reefs.
- A lively party boat atmosphere—expect plenty of drinks, music, and an unforgettable time with new friends.
2. Pub Crawl (Twice the Fun!)
- If you want to meet people and experience Ao Nang’s nightlife, the hostel’s pub crawl is the way to go. I did it twice, and it was a blast each time. The pub crawl connects X Base Hostel with its sister hostel, Nomads, so you’ll meet a ton of fellow travelers while hopping between the best bars in Ao Nang.

3. Jungle Tour & Tiger Cave Temple
X Base Hostel also offers a jungle tour that includes a visit to the famous Tiger Cave Temple. I didn’t do it, but I heard amazing things about it. The temple is one of Krabi’s top attractions, featuring a breathtaking view at the top—but be prepared to climb 1,300 steps to get there!
Where to Eat: Best Restaurants in Ao Nang
– Kodam Kitchen (12-Minute Walk from X Base Hostel)
– Thai Me Up Pang (Closer to the Hostel)

Ao Nang is an incredible destination with so much to offer. From beautiful beaches and epic island tours to exciting nightlife and delicious food, you won’t run out of things to do. If you’re looking for the perfect mix of adventure, relaxation, and socializing, staying at X Base Hostel is a no-brainer.
